A Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy has been arrested after she allegedly assaulted a person during an argument.

Officials say 31-year-old Lauren Landa who has been with the department since 2019, allegedly a necklace around the victim’s throat during an argument.

The assault reportedly left several scratches around the victim’s chest and throat.

Sheriff Rick Ramsay spoke out about the incident saying they will keep the community informed:

“I was disappointed to hear of this incident,” said Sheriff Ramsay. “We will investigate it fully and take appropriate action. As always, I will keep this community informed of significant events that occur in this agency, good and bad.”

Landa has been charged with a misdemeanor domestic battery.

Authorities have launched an internal affairs investigation into the case.
