A New Jersey area mom who is accused of fatally stabbing her infant, says she killed her child to “fulfill the last of her sins: murder.”

Investigators revealed the details of their interview with 26-year-old Kristhie Alcazar during an initial court date in an effort to convince the judge to keep her jailed until her trial.

According to the report, police say they received a phone call on Friday with a lot of noise in the background. They then responded to Alcazar’s home where they found Alcazar arguing with another person, and Alcazar’s five-month-old daughter dead from several stab wounds to the chest.

During a police interview Alcazar told police that she was responsible for her infant’s death.

Investigators then took several items from the home including multiple knives.

Alcazar has since been charged with charged with two counts of first degree murder which each carry a maximum of life in prison.

She is currently being held in Salem County and is scheduled a detention hearing for Thursday.

Authorities say the child’s father was not home during the incident.
