The mother of a 13-year-old girl who was beaten unconscious during an altercation with other students is demanding answers and action.
The incident was said to have occurred in the cafeteria of Gulfstream Academy of Hallandale Beach on April 1st.
Video from the lunchtime brawl appears to show several students striking the girl as she attempts to shield herself from the ground.
At one point the teen is knocked unconscious as the students continue to strike her.
The student’s brother then appears to try and shield his sister as she is unconscious.
“My daughter was found unconscious from several witnesses,” said mother Christina Neptune. “They said she laid there lifeless.
Neptune says her daughter now suffers from severe headaches and is recovering from a hairline fracture to her leg.
She has not been back to the school since.
Despite the Hallandale Beach Police department conducting an investigation on the incident, Neptune says no arrest have been made.
The Broward County School District, however, told reporters that the students involved have received the “appropriate school disciplinary consequences in accordance with the code of student conduct.”
It is unclear what started the incident.
