(JACKSON, MS) — Mississippi State head football coach Mike Leach is in critical condition at the University of Mississippi Medical Center after suffering a heart attack.
Leach, 61, was hospitalized after reportedly collapsing in his Starkville home. Emergency paramedics used a defibrillator device to restore normal heart rate.
He was then transported to UMMC by helicopter.
Mississippi State chief communications officer Sid Salter addressed Leach’s condition Sunday night.
“The rumors circulating on social media are just that – rumors,” Salter said. “If there is a change in Coach Leach’s situation, the university will announce it. I encourage people to respect the privacy of the Leach family at this time.”
Praying for Coach Leach. He’s always been very kind to so many. https://t.co/EIn02Y16pb

Leach possibly suffered seizures with an increased risk of brain damage, according to sources.
Defensive coordinator Zach Arnett will fill-in as coach of the MSU football team until Coach Leach returns.
