Waukegan, IL — The body of a missing 21-year-old Sailor from Jupiter, Florida has been located in Lake Michigan.
The body was discovered on Wednesday around 7:00 p.m. by Waukegan police officers who were conducting a traffic stop near the Waukegan Harbor.
While authorities were at the stop, they were flagged down by utility workers who told them they believed they saw a body in the water.
Officials have since identified the victim as United States Navy Sailor Seamus Gray, who was reported missing on March 18 after going out to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
Gray was last seen leaving Ibiza Bar alone through a back alley in Waukegan.
He was again pictured at the intersection of Sheridan Road and Washington Street around 1:40 a.m. before he disappeared.
Several agencies came together to search the waterfront area for Gray but could not locate him.
Gray’s mother also traveled from Florida to participate in search efforts.
An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday morning to determine his cause of death.
