ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FL– A 65-year-old Florida woman who was reported missing last week has been found safe.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office announced on Sunday that they located Janie Wilkenson in a wooded area just outside of a shopping plaza she visited several days prior.

Wilkenson was reported missing by her family on Jan. 24 after she failed to return home and no one could get in touch with her.
On the same day, authorities located Wilkenson’s vehicle at the Prima Vista Crossing shopping plaza and spoke to a witness who told them that they believe they saw her walking north through the parking lot.
Wilkenson was eventually located on Sunday afternoon and provided medical attention.

Authorities did not say what type of medical attention was needed.
Wilkenson’s husband told reporters that his wife had gone to the plaza to redeem a coupon at a hardware store and may have gotten confused when visiting the store.
Mr. Wilkenson also reported that his wife has been dealing with health issues and is scheduled for a hip replacement next month.
