Buckingham County, Virginia — The Buckingham County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that they have discovered the body of a 6-year-old boy who went missing on Sunday.
Landon Raber, who lived with autism and was non-verbal, went missing from his home in the 4600 block of New Store Road.
Officials say they joined the search for the child around 8:45 p.m.
Raber’s body was discovered Monday morning in a pond on the property.
“While this was not the outcome anyone was wanting or expecting, we’d like to thank everyone who was involved with searching all evening and all night,” the Buckingham County Department of Emergency Services posted. “Please keep the family in your thoughts, and respect their privacy during this difficult time.”
All Volunteer Fire Departments in the area as well as the Virginia Department of Emergency Management Search and Rescue, Virginia State Police helicopter, and canine units assisted in the search.
