Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson who grew up in Miami is fielding questions from senators today and tomorrow. Jackson was asked about her experience as a woman of color in South Florida and the advancement of racial equality in America. Judge Jackson touted the “Greatness of America that in one generation we could go from racially segregated schools in Florida to have me sitting her as the first Floridian to ever be nominated to the Supreme Court of the United States, that is my belief.”
The federal appellate court judge would be the first Black woman to ever serve on the nation’s highest court if she’s confirmed.
