Miami’s Gloria Estefan singing the praises of mask-wearing, “Put on your Mask”

MIAMI — The Miami Sound Machine’s Gloria Estefan, who tested positive for the coronavirus in November, is using an old song to convey a new, important message.

Last year, Estefan created a parody of her 1989 hit song, “Get on Your Feet,” that encourages Floridians and visitors to “Put on your Mask.”

The song’s lyrics are projected over downtown Miami to encourage all who see them to wear a mask. The song lyrics scrolled along the Paramount Miami Worldcenter tower’s LED billboard on Sunday as an important COVID public service announcement.

The lyrics will be displayed through Tuesday night.

“Put on your mask when you go out in public,” Estefan sings. “Put on your mask. Help save the world from COVID.”

The move comes after Miami Beach implemented a spring break curfew over the weekend to curtail the crowds.

Gov. Ron DeSantis recently canceled all coronavirus-related fines throughout Florida.
