Miami Mayor Francis Suarez has booked the Bitcoin 2021 Conference in Miami on June 4th-5th. The conference was initially supposed to take place in Los Angeles, CA, but due to Covid-19 procedures in the state of California, the committee decided to move it to Miami. It’s the second time the conference has been held in Miami (first time was 2017).
Bitcoin 2021 will feature panels comprised of the best and brightest fiscal minds with whom to collaborate.

In December 2020, Mayor Suarez announced that the City of Miami plans to convert 1% of their treasury reserves to Bitcoin, marking the first significant interest of any municipality or government entity in the United States.

“The City of Miami is actively exploring how we can best utilize Bitcoin and related technologies and are committed to supporting and attracting businesses and entrepreneurs innovating in the space'” according to Mayor Suarez.

Mayor Suarez is intent on making Miami not only the Bitcoin hub of the United States, but a major tech hub.
He has even made a push to start paying public workers with Bitcoin. Adding more to the hype, the City of Miami added the Bitcoin White Paper (a document informing readers about the creation and purpose of Bitcoin’s existence) to their website.

A conference call yesterday hinted that a venue will be selected by March 12th, 2021. It’s rumored that Hyatt Regency in Miami’s downtown district will be hosting the event. If you’re traveling from out of town, refrain from booking your accommodations until this is established.

There will be over 50 speakers. Here are the headliners:

Michael Saylor – Chairman & CEO, Microstrategy
Jack Dorsey – Co-Founder & CEO, Twitter and Square
Chamath Palihapitiya – Managing Partner, Social Capital
Tony Hawk – Skateboarding Legend
