City of Miami police responding to a 911 call came upon a gruesome scene in the Little Haiti neighborhood on Tuesday night.

Officers found the bodies of two children, a 3 year old boy and a five year old girl, inside the home in the 100 block of NW 75th St.

They were tied up on top of a bed by their necks, legs and arms.

Officers untied the children and began administering CPR but the efforts proved fruitless and they were later pronounced dead when Miami Fire Rescue arrived to assist.

Their mother, 41 year old Odette Joassaint has been charged with two counts of first degree murder.

Police said Joassaint told arriving officers ‘I don’t want them anymore’ and according to a Miami police spokesman she appeared to be experiencing a mental health crisis.

Joassaint has been booked into the Miami-Dade County Jail.
