Haitian authorities believe they have the ringleader of the assassination of their President in custody as well as his hired mercenaries.
They say 63 year-old Miami Dr. Christian Emmanuel Sanon returned to his homeland from South Florida in June to coordinate the killing and take over his country.
Interim Chief of the National Police, Leon Charles, Sanon hired the Columbian nationals who carried out assassination through a Venezuelan security firm based in the United States.
The security team was hired under the pretext that they would work his security detail and provide security for his business. Charles says Sanon changed the mission once he arrived in Haiti with the group and presented an arrest warrant for President Moise to one person who then informed the rest of the group of the new mandate.
Charles says that is when the operation to kill the president started.
Nearly two dozen people have now been arrested in connection with the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moise last week.

Christian Emmanuel Sanon, a doctor born in Haiti, allegedly plotted to take the president’s place after the assassination. He has been arrested in Florida, Haitian authorities announced Sunday. https://t.co/4p0ycyRgme

On the ground in Haiti, cars are on fire and there’s more unrest just days after Moise was assassinated inside his home.
Investigators said the killers posed as DEA agents, and at least 29 people were involved, including 18 Colombians and three Haitian-Americans with ties to Florida.
