Authorities in Miami are currently investigating a police-involved shooting that left one person dead.
The incident occurred Wednesday at an apartment complex located at 8002 SW 149th Avenue.
Officials say they were called to the area around 8:30 p.m. after several people reported a woman screaming inside one of the homes.
When authorities arrived, they were forced to breach the door to the apartment home where they encountered 21-year-old Richard Hollis holding two knives.
Hollis reportedly ignored police de-escalation methods and requests for him to drop the knives.
One of the officers fired his weapon striking Hollis.
Hollis was then transported to Kendall Regional Trauma Center where he later died from his injuries.
Witnesses say police have been to the home several times in the past few months.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has taken over the investigation.
