Memorial Healthcare System is announcing that they will be suspending elective procedures at all of it’s facilities beginning on August 9th.

The health provider states that the decision is due to a surge in COVID-19 cases in Florida with the epicenter being in Broward County area where 17 of their facilities are stationed.

“In an effort to conserve critical resources for the care of COVID-19 patients, to provide safe healthcare, and to keep our community safe,” the statement that went out on Wednesday read.

Memorial Healthcare Systems also operates the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Pediatric Specialty Center in Wellington, which will also fall under the same guide.

While the facilities will not be providing elective procedures until further notice, they will be open for emergencies and all other physician practices:

“Memorial Healthcare System is always available to care for emergencies, and all of our facilities, including physician practices and radiology, laboratory, rehab, and cancer centers remain open for business,” the hospital system’s statement read.
