AP police, emergency

BELVIDERE, Ill.– Authorities in Belvidere are responding to what is being called a “mass casualty event,” after the roof of the Apollo Theatre collapsed during a storm.
According to the report, the heavy metal band Morbid Angel was supposed to put on a show Friday but canceled the show around 8:52 p.m. due to dangerous weather conditions.:
“Tonight’s show is Canceled due to a Tornado that hit the Venue. We ask anyone who is still traveling to the venue to please seek shelter and stay safe. We are currently sheltering in place, and want to extend our support and hope that everyone at the show tonight is safe. Right now our focus is making sure everyone in the venue tonight is ok and gets home,” the band posted on their Facebook page.
Video from the scene show first responders and others working to free concertgoers from the rumble and some concertgoers on stretchers.
It is unclear how many people are injured or if there are any causalities at this time.
Reports suggested the area experienced winds up to 75 mphs, which may have been the cause of the collapse.
The area also experienced downed trees and powerlines.
This is a developing story and will be updated once more information becomes available.
