Manhunt for suspect believed to have shot a Daytona Beach police officer

Officials in Daytona Beach along with  U.S. Marshals are currently searching for a suspect who is believed to have shot a Daytona Beach Police officer in the head.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night in the 100 block of Kingston Avenue, just south of Mason Avenue.

Investigators say 26-year-old Daytona Beach police officer, Jason Raynor was patrolling the area when he noticed a suspicious vehicle and approached it. That’s when the suspect,

29-year-old Othal Wallace shot Raynor in the head before driving away.

The officer was rushed to an area hospital where he underwent surgery and remains in critical condition.

Authorities say Wallace has family who lives in the area where the shooting occurred and that sometimes, he resides with them there.

After executing a search warrant on the apartment, authorities found at least three ballistic vests, multiple high-capacity magazines, a rifle, a semi-automatic handgun, and several boxes of rifle rounds.

Wallace is believed to be driving a gray 2016 Honda H-RV, with California tags. The plate number is 7TNX532.

A $100,000 reward is being offered for information that may lead to Wallace’s arrest.
