The man accused of kidnapping and raping a college student he met online reportedly asked a judge if he could spend Christmas with his kids.

39-year-old Brent Brown made the request during his first court appearance on Wednesday.

“Like to be home for Christmas,” Brown told the judge. “I don’t get to see my kids.”

Brown was taken into custody on Saturday after 19-year-old Madelyn Allen of Utah, was found in his basement naked and covered in coal dust.

Officials say Allen was reported missing five days earlier after she failed to return home from a date.

Authorities were eventually able to locate Allen using data from her phone which led them to Brown’s home.

When authorities spoke to Brown about Allen’s whereabouts, he denied knowing where Allen was.  Authorities, however, got a glimpse of Allen in the basement and were able to bring her home.

In an interview with investigators, Allen said that she met Brown on the internet and after they met in person, he held her hostage in his basement where he repeatedly raped her over the five days.

Brown is charged with six felonies, including rape, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault, and obstructing justice.

He is being held without bond.
