The New York Police Department is reporting that they have arrested the man who was seen on camera brutally attacking an Asian woman near Time Square.

Investigators arrested 38-year-old Brandon Elliot on Wednesday after the viral video of the attack led police to him.

In the video, Elliot could be seen repeatedly kicking the woman even as she laid on the ground. Witnesses also reported that Elliot was heard making anti-Asian statements during the assault.

Authorities say Elliot is a convicted murderer who is serving a lifetime of patrol after completing his prison sentence for the murder of his mother.

He is now facing several assault and hate-crime charges.
