Authorities in Miami are reporting that a fugitive from North Carolina was shot and killed by police in Miami after he reportedly opened fire on officers.
The incident occurred on Saturday after authorities tracked down the suspect to a house on the 25500 block of Southwest 147th Avenue, according to the Miami Herald.
Authorities say the suspect barricaded himself inside of the home and refused to surrender even after hours of negotiations.
Officers eventually made the decision to enter the home and that’s when the suspected opened fire on them.
One officer was shot in his bulletproof vest but was not seriously injured. The suspect was then fatally shot by police.
Police did not provide any details regarding the suspect’s identity other than that the suspect was 56-years-old, however, other sources say the wanted suspect may have been James Justin Munro.
