MEMPHIS, TN —
The Memphis police department is currently searching for a suspect who reportedly stole several checks from an apartment mailbox using a mouse trap.
The suspect was caught on surveillance stealing from the Hillcrest apartment around 10:00 p.m. on Sept. 30.
Authorities say the suspect walked up to the mail dropbox and lifted the latch to see if anything was inside.
He then went back to his vehicle and retrieved a mouse trap that he stuck inside of the dropbox.
Authorities say he was able to retrieve two checks.
The suspect is described as a Black male wearing a black hat, a yellow shirt, and red pants, with yellow and black shoes.
He was said to be driving a silver four-door sedan, possibly an Infiniti.
No arrests have been made at this time.
