MIAMI, FL–  A Florida man is facing attempted murder charges after he allegedly used a pillow to block his mother’s airway because she refused to give him money.

The incident occurred at a home in the 3000 block of Southwest 16th Terrace, in the city’s Coral Way neighborhood on May 27th.

Authorities say 57-year-old Frank Laberdesque was lying in bed with his mother at the home when he asked her for money.

When the woman refused, Laberdesque “grabbed a pillow, mounted her, and then covered her face with said pillow as he held her down.”

The woman was able to turn her head so that she could breathe and repeatedly hit and scratched her son until he got off of her.

“The victim stated that she never lost consciousness and her breathing was never obstructed,” the investigating officer wrote. “The victim advised that even though the defendant covered her face she was still able to breath(e).”

Laberdesque was arrested and charged with attempted murder.

He is being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $10,000 bond.
