Police say a man accused of accidently firing a gun at the Atlanta airport decided to turn himself in.

42-year-old Kenny Wells was waiting at a security checkpoint on Nov.20 when his bag was pulled aside for a security check.

Police said he grabbed his bag and pulled a gun out, causing it to go off.

Wells then fled with the gun, which was later pulled from an airport trashcan.

Police said Tuesday that Wells turned himself into the Clayton County jail.

The discharge of the gun caused an uproar and prompted a temporary ground stop on fights.

According to the Associated Press, no one was shot when the gun went off.
