Starks, LA — A man is facing several charges after he reportedly shot a 14-year-old who was playing hide and seek with other children near his property.
The incident occurred early Sunday in Calcasieu Parish.
Detectives say several children were playing hide and seek in the Starks community and were hiding on a neighbor’s property.
58-year-old David Doyle says he saw shadows near his home so he grabbed his gun and began shooting at the people running away.
Doyle reported that he was unaware he was shooting at children.
The 14-year-old was shot in the back of the head and taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Doyle has since been arrested and charged with aggravated battery, four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, and illegal discharge of a firearm.
As of Tuesday, Doyle remained at the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center with a $300,000 bond.
