POMPANO BEACH, FL– A man was transported to an area hospital after he was hit by a Broward Sheriff’s Office patrol car.
The incident occurred just after 5:30 a.m. Friday in the 1100 block of North Ocean Drive.
BSO spokesman Carey Codd reported that the deputy was on duty when the crash occurred.
Both the victim and the deputy were taken to an area hospital. Authorities say the victim suffered serious injuries while the deputy was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
It is unclear what caused the crash, however, those familiar with the area say the accident happened within a construction zone.
BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the incident.
