GREENACRES, FL– A 74-year-old man has been arrested after investigators found that he poisoned his friend because the friend would not stop making noises while they were drinking together.
John Dennis Reeves was taken into custody this week for the death of the unidentified victim in March 2022.
According to the report, the victim was found dead on a bed in a townhome after authorities were called to the area to conduct a welfare check.
Investigators reported that Reeves was present in the room and told them that though the victim had been dead for four days, he chose to keep drinking and smoking to pretend it did not happen.
Reeves, who was intoxicated and disoriented at the time, was taken to an area hospital where he confessed to medical staff that he fed his friend a mixture of his medication and the victim’s medication along with a glass of vodka to get the victim to stop making growling noises.
Reeves also told authorities that he and the victim were heavy drinkers and consumed at least one bottle of vodka each day.
He was arrested on one count of first-degree murder after it was determined that the victim died of a lethal mixture of medication and alcohol.
The report of the arrest was made public Friday.
