A 21-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly shot his ex-girlfriend and her 9-year-old daughter during an argument.
The incident was reported at an apartment complex in Houston, Texas on Monday.
Officials say the child and her mother Brittany Sorrells were lying in bed and watching tv when Sorells’ ex-boyfriend Jeremiah Jones showed up at the home.
Sorells told police that Jones showed up unannounced and accused her of stealing his tv.
Jones then reportedly grabbed the tv off of the wall and accused her of dating someone else and demanded her phone.
Sorells told police that she handed her phone over as they continued to argue outside of the apartment.
Jones then reportedly walked back into the apartment and she heard two gunshots.
He then forced Sorell to the ground and gunpoint before shooting her in the shoulder.
Once Jones took off, Sorell went into the room to find her daughter had been shot in the head.
Both Sorell and her daughter were rushed to an area hospital where the 9-year-old was pronounced dead.
Authorities located Jones on June 14th and took him into custody.
Jones has been charged with capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Sorell told police that she broke up with Jones two months prior to the incident.
