Police say a Florida man killed his boyfriend and then went live on social media to confess the murder before killing himself.

The incident occurred on Monday at a condo in Tampa, just after 7:30 a.m.

Officials say 30-year-old Keith Jackson called them to tell them that he killed his boyfriend during a heated argument and that he wanted the police to kill him because he could not do it himself.

When authorities arrived to the condo, Jackson spoke with officials through the door but refused to open the door, come outside or answer his phone.  Jackson then reportedly started a live video on Facebook where he confessed to his viewers that he killed “the love of his life,” and that he tried three times to kill himself.

“During this great length of time our negotiators are talking to him and trying to de-escalate him in any way that we can,” Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister  said. “He gets frustrated with us that we’re not going to take his life and, just before 1 p.m. this afternoon, tells our negotiators, ’If you guys aren’t going to do this we’re back at square one. I’m going to have to take matters into my own hands.”

A few minutes after 1:00 p.m. authorities then noticed smoke coming from inside the condo. They then realized that Jackson set the condo on fire moments before taking his own life.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue and the SWAT team rushed into the condo and were able to put out the fire to prevent it from spreading to neighboring condos. They then retrieved the bodies of the deceased.
