Hialeah, FL–

One man is dead following a road rage incident that turned into a shooting.

The incident occurred on Wednesday in the area of East 6th Avenue and Hialeah Drive.

Police say they arrived at the scene around 3:45 p.m. to find 60-year-old Juan Alberto Rocha suffering from a single gunshot wound.

Rocha was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center where he later died from his injuries.

The shooter told investigators that he was involved in a road rage incident with Rocha prior to the shooting.

Rocha reportedly used his vehicle to block the shooter then got out of the car and approached him.

As Rocha walked over to the vehicle and confronted the man, that’s when the man fired his weapon and struck Rocha.

While the incident is still under investigation, authorities say they believe the shooter is protected under the “Stand Your Ground” law.
