A Indian man is now dead after he was killed by his own rooster while preparing the animal for a banned cockfight.

The incident was reported last week in the village of Lothunur in Hyderabad, India.

Officials say 45-year-old Thangulla Satish was in the process of equipping the rooster with a blade around it’s foot when the animal panicked and began to flutter around.

In the process of the panic, the bird managed to slash Satish in the groin area.

Satish was said to have died from a loss of blood on the way to the hospital.

Indian authorities are currently investigating the illegal ring and are looking for over a dozen people said to have been involved.

If found guilty, organizers can be jailed up to two years.
