A local man is recovering half he was struck by a vehicle while shopping in a store. The incident occurred at the Plantation Pantry on Hutchinson Island Tuesday evening. Officials say an unnamed 21-year-old driver who was attempting to pull into the establishment, hit the accelerator instead of the break. The vehicle went crashing through the front doors of the establishment just as a customer was attempting to exit with his purchase. (Viewer discretion advised: Graphic video)

While the victim was injured, first responders say he seemed to be in good spirits and asked if the beer he purchased was ok. He was taken to an area hospital for injuries to his face from the glass breakage. Authorities say they expect the driver to face reckless driving charges.
