BOCA RATON, FL– Officials with the Boca Raton police department are reporting that a man was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after they were called to a home about an explosive device.
The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon at a home south of Palmetto Park Road.
The police department reported that a family member contacted them after they were given what appeared to be a pin of a grenade by a man identified as Justin Moore. Moore then reportedly went back into the home with a device in his hand and barricaded himself inside.
Authorities say Crisis negotiators were on the scene for several hours, attempting to get Moore to come out.
Eventually, officials used drones to enter the home and found Moore dead.
Police are still investigating whether the explosive device was found with is real or not.
There is currently no threat to the public.
