Man fatally stabbed at a home in Tamarac

TAMARAC, FL– Broward County police are investigating a stabbing that left one person dead.

The incident occurred in the 6300 block of Landings Way just before 3:50 p.m.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office says they received a call about a person who was stabbed near a home. 

While first responders were treating the victim, who was said to have stopped breathing, a firefighter was injured. 

The victim was transported to Broward Health Medical Center where he later died. The firefighter was taken to Woodmont Hospital for treatment of his injuries. 

It is unclear how the firefighter was injured. 

Officials have arrested 27-year-old Keenan Whyte in connection with the victm’s death. 

Whyte is facing a charge of premeditated murder.

Authorities did not give a motive for the incident but Whyte’s public defender asked for his client to under go a mental health evaluation.
