Miami, FL — A 23-year-old man is behind bars after he fatally shot a woman’s ex-boyfriend who became “enraged” after finding him in her bed.
The incident occurred on March 11 at an apartment near the intersection of Northwest 17 Avenue and 55 Terrace.
Officials say they received a call from the woman just before 1:45 a.m. to report the shooting.
When authorities arrived, they found the woman’s ex-boyfriend dead after being shot multiple times.
The woman told authorities that her ex-boyfriend came to her apartment with his mother to pick up some of his things and became “enraged,” when he noticed another man in her bed.
The suspect, later identified as Darius Malik Johnson, shot the ex-boyfriend multiple times before fleeing the scene.
After nearly two weeks of searching for Johnson, authorities located him during a traffic stop and took him into custody.
Johnson told police that he was in the woman’s bed when he heard the victim and the woman arguing outside of the room.
The ex-boyfriend then rushed into the room and that’s when Johnson opened fire on the victim.
Johnson told authorities he was in fear for his life.
Johnson is facing one count of second-degree murder with a deadly weapon.
He is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond.
