
A Florida landscaper is facing a number of charges after he blew up a homeowner’s mailbox because he believed the homeowner owed him money.
The incident occurred at a home in Merritt Island, Florida on Thursday night.
According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, the homeowner was sitting in his on his bed when he suddenly heard a loud bang.
When he went outside to see what happened, he noticed his mailbox was completely destroyed.
During the investigation, authorities were informed that a neighbor saw a local landscaper, later identified as Petr Dusek, put something in the mailbox and then leave.
Minutes later, the mailbox exploded, sending shrapnel flying several feet and bending a street sign.
Ring doorbell footage collaborated with the neighbor’s story.
The victim told authorities that he moved into the home 48 hours prior to the incident and that the previous inhabitants owed the landscaper money.
Dusek was arrested on several charges, including making or possessing a destructive device, possession of a destructive device to cause bodily harm and aggravated assault.
He’s being held without bond.
