Officials are currently searching for a suspect who reportedly abandoned two older dogs in the middle of a street.

The incident was captured on video in Pembroke Pines last month.

Authorities say the man captured in the video attempted to leave the dogs at the police station but when he was advised to take them to another location, he just dumped them:

“Earlier in the day [when the dogs were dumped], the gentleman had come to the police department to come leave the dogs with us,” Pembroke Pines police Maj. Al Xiques said. “Unfortunately, our kennels were full and he was directed to animal control.”

The dogs were later found in a the area of Northwest 119th Avenue and 19th Street where the suspect was captured on surveillance dumping them.

Authorities say while the dogs did show signs of neglect, they are now safe and being cared for by a foster home.
