Authorities in Vancouver, Canada are reporting that a man has died after being involved in a “freak accident” at a McDonald’s drive-thru.

The incident occurred last week at the restaurant on

Officials say the customer was attempting to pay for his meal at the window when he dropped something outside of the car.

He man then opened his car door in and effort to retrieve the item and that’s when his vehicle began rolling forward.

The door struck the side of the building and the customer became pinned between door and the frame of his car.

Authorities say they were able to revive the customer, however, he died of his injuries a little while later at the scene.

“Efforts were made by first responders to revive the man, but tragically, he died on scene,” police Constable Tania Visintin said in a news release. “This is an absolutely heartbreaking scenario. Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of this man.”

Officials have not released the name of the victim.
