A 41-year-old man died late Friday night after driving into a body of water in West Palm Beach.

Officials with West Palm Beach Police say a Nissan Altima was traveling slowly and entered a body of water along the 1600 block of N. Congress Ave. shortly after 11 p.m.

The driver, identified as Palm Springs resident Omar Martinez, was recovered by the West Palm Beach Fire Department and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The single vehicle crash remains under investigation pending an autopsy and toxicology results.
