Man dies after being struck by truck on turnpike in hit-and-run

Authorities in Miami-Dade are currently searching for the driver of a box truck who fatally struck another driver on the turnpike before fleeing the scene.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the victim was a passenger in a white pickup truck that was headed north on the Turnpike around 2:25 a.m.

The truck became disabled and the driver pulled over onto the right shoulder near mile marker 11.

The passenger eventually got out of the vehicle and began walking in the roadway in the attempt to flag down other drivers, that’s  when he was struck by a box truck.

According to witnesses, the driver of the truck did not stop after striking the victim.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
