(FORT LAUDERDALE, FL) — The Broward Sheriff’s Office identified the man killed onboard a ship at Port Everglades last Thursday as 51 year old Odely Joseph of Fort Lauderdale.

Investigators say Odely was struck by a shipping container while working aboard the ship Hohebank at around 8:30 PM on October 20th.

Rescuers attended to Odely on the ship but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

BSO, who oversees security at the seaport is investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident while the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) attempts to determine the exact cause.
