A West Palm Beach man says he is lucky to be alive after a man armed with a gun and a baseball ball attacked him.
The incident occurred last month along Henrietta Avenue near Palm Beach Lakes.
The victim told police that he was walking by when all of a sudden the suspect 45-year-old Ralph Hightower stopped fixing his vehicle and attacked him.
Hightower was said to have attacked the victim with a bat but the victim was able to get ahold of a garbage can to defend himself. Moments later, however, Hightower grabbed a gun and pointed the gun at the victim’s head while threatening to kill him.
At some point during the altercation, Hightower reportedly lowered his weapon for a second which allowed the victim time to flee the scene.
The victim says as he was running away, Hightower fired one shot at him but missed.
It is unclear what started the incident, however, the victim did tell authorities that he knew Hightower and usually saw him during his daily walks to work.
Hightower has since been arrested and is facing multiple charges including, attempted murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon.
