DAVENPORT, FL–
A Florida man is now in police custody after he allegedly stabbed two people and then walked into a Publix covered in blood.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at
Polk County deputies say the suspect, 32-year-old Derrick Charles Emery,
attended a birthday party at an apartment on Charo Parkway and was asked to leave because he was too intoxicated.
Emery reportedly left the apartment with two other people who volunteered to take him home while his fianceé stayed behind.
During the walk home, Emery pulled out a knife and stabbed both of the victims multiple times and then yelled ‘F— you’ as they ran back to the apartment for help.
Victim 1, who Emery had known since high school, was stabbed in the chest and arm.
Victim 2, whom Emery just met, was stabbed in the neck, chest, and left forearm.
Emery told investigators that the whole ordeal was a “blur” but that during the walk home, the two victims became “plain” with him and he felt like they may harm him:
“At some point, he was reaching into his fanny pack for his phone, however, for reasons unknown to him, he reached into the compartment where his pocket knife was, and before he knew it, he was stabbing the two subjects,” the arrest report said.
Emery eventually ended up walking into a Publix with the knife in his hand and blood on his shirt. He then asked management for help.
Emery was arrested on a charge of attempted second-degree murder.
