A fisherman was rushed to an area hospital Thursday after he was bitten by a shark while at a beach in Lake Worth.
The incident occurred near Lake Worth Beach Park at 10 South Ocean Boulevard.
Officials say the man was fishing when the shark bit him in the knee.
He was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center where he is currently being treated for non- life threatening injuries.
Authorities also reported that it is unlikely that the man will have to have his leg amputated.
It is unclear what type of shark attacked the 50-year-old.
Lake Worth Beach currently has both red and purple warning flags flying.
Red indicates rough surf while purple indicates potentially dangerous marine life.
