Two children are dead and several others are injured after a man attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-pass zone.
The incident occurred on Saturday in Tavares, Florida on a two-way road.
According to Florida highway patrol, the 20-year-old driver crossed a double yellow line to go around another driver.
The driver, however, did not see another vehicle driving in the opposite direction until the last minute.
Both drivers swerved to avoid each other but ended up colliding instead.
A 2-year-old and a 4-year-old in the 20-year-old’s vehicle were killed in the accident.
A 1-year-old from the same vehicle was flown to an area hospital in critical condition.
Authorities say none of the children had seatbelts on.
The driver and four of the passengers from the oncoming vehicle were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Charges are pending against the 20-year-old driver.
