Update: The victim found in the canal has been identified.
A 37-year-old man was arrested Saturday night in connection to death of a missing woman found in canal in the Gifford area.
Marcus Rosier was arrested on three felony charges of tampering with evidence, two accounts of abuse of a dead body, and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.
No murder charges have been filed, the Indian County Sheriff’s Office said.
The investigation is ongoing.
Rosier new the victim, 33-year-old Maria Guadalupe Romo, who was found in the canal in the area of 28th Avenue near 41st Street on Friday.
Initial reports stated the woman was pregnant, but the sheriff’s office says there is no evidence to support that initial claim.
Rosier was booked into the Indian River County jail.
