(NORTH DAKOTA)– A North Dakota man charged with vehicular homicide of a teenager has reportedly confessed to his crime.
Shannon Brandt, 41, killed 18-year-old Cayler Ellingson early Sunday in McHenry, a city in Foster County, North Dakota, with an SUV because the teen was part of a Republican “extremist group.”
According to authorities, Brandt called 911 to report the crash, and officers said he was allegedly drunk at the time.
The incident occurred after Brandt and Ellingson reportedly had a political argument at a street festival.
Paramedics rushed Ellingson to a local hospital, where he later passed away from his wounds.
Brandt was released Tuesday after posting a $50,000 bond.
