A Fort Pierce man has been arrested after he allegedly shot two of his neighbor’s dogs, killing one of them.
62-year-old Jorge Rosado was arrested on Friday in the 1700 block of North 15th Street.
A spokesperson told reporters that when they arrived at the scene, they found the owner of the dogs in the process of taking both dogs to an animal hospital.
The owner of the dogs said Rosado began cursing and yelling at the two pitbull mixes from his fenced-in yard before shooting both dogs multiple times.
The owner also told police that the shooting was “without provocation” because the dogs were outside of his fence.
A male dog died at the hospital, while the female was seriously wounded.
Rosado was arrested and charged with two counts of animal cruelty and one count each of possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon and discharging a firearm in public or residential property. As of Monday, he remained in jail on a $56,500 bond.
