ST. PETERSBURG, FL– A 30-year-old man has been arrested after authorities say he killed and then dismembered a delivery driver after the driver dropped off food at his home.
The incident occurred Wednesday at a home in Holiday, Florida.
Officials began investigating Oscar Solis Jr. after the victim’s wife contacted them because her husband 59-year-old Randall Cooke, stop responding to her text messages and failed to return home from his Uber Eats delivery. Uber then told authorities that the victim’s last known location was Solis’ home.
When authorities arrived at the home, Solis’ roommate reportedly gave them a video showing the victim dropping off the food before it cut out.
Investigators later found surveillance video of Solis and another male carrying heavy trash bags from inside.
Authorities reported that they located the trash bags still at the home and found that the victim had been dismembered and placed in various bags.
Inside the bags, authorities also found blood-soaked rags and towels, a Door Dash bag, and a time card with Solis’ name on it.
“This was a horrific crime of passion,” Nocco told reporters. “This was demonic. What he did was demonic.”
Investigators say they believe Solis pulled the victim inside of his home and attempted to rob him before killing him.
Solis is facing several charges including murder while engaged in a robbery, failure to register as a convicted felon, and a parole violation.
Records show that Solis moved to Florida a few months prior to the incident after serving four years in an Indiana prison on assault charges.
Solis was also reportedly affiliated with the MS-13 gang while in Indiana.
The other man involved in the case has not been charged.
