Officials in Vero Beach are reporting that they have arrested a 34-year-old man who pretended to be a Florida Fish and Wildlife Officer.
The incident was reported Sunday at a home on 13th Lane SW.
The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office says they received a phone call from the suspect, Bruce Florence, requesting backup for a situation. During the phone call, officials say Florence identified himself as an undercover Fish and Wildlife officer.
Authorities said they heard a verbal dispute going on in the background at which point Florence claimed to be with the U.S. Marshals Service, Homeland Security, and reportedly claimed to be a Navy officer.
When officials arrived to the scene, they found that Florence armed with a hammer and a cheese grater.
Florence was taken into custody and is now facing charges of impersonating a law enforcement officer and corruption by threat.
