A 24-year-old man has been arrested after investigators say he impregnated a 10-year-old girl in East Hartford, Connecticut.

According to the report, the girl’s mother contacted police in March after she discovered her daughter watching pornographic videos on a tablet. She questioned the child about her sexual experiences and that’s when the girl admitted to being sexual active with the suspect, Antonio “JJ” Wilmot.

Interviewers with the Klingberg Children’s Advocacy Center spoke to the child to which she admitted that Wilmot did things to her body but refused to go into further detail.

The detective noticed that the child may have been reluctant to speak because when the incident was uncovered, the child’s mother informed the child that because of Wilmot’s actions, he would be thrown in jail and likely beaten and killed.

They did, however, discover that the child was pregnant and through DNA testing, were able to determine that Wilmot was the father.

When authorities approached Wilmot at his home, they asked if he knew why they were there. Wilmot then replied “I don’t deserve your kindness,” according to the detective.

He is currently being held at the Garner Correctional Institution in Newtown, which specializes in “care and treatment for adult male offenders with significant mental health issues,” according to the website.
