(STUART, FL)– Investigators are reporting that a man wanted for a murder in Hobe Sound was last seen on the run in Jupiter.

The incident occurred at a home in the Preserve of Hobe Sound neighborhood Saturday afternoon.

Authorities say Jared Diaz and his girlfriend went to the victim’s home so that the victim’s girlfriend could do the girlfriend’s hair.

At some point during the visit, Diaz and the victim Robert Meadows got into an argument.

Diaz then reportedly stabbed Meadows several times before both Diaz and his girlfriend fled the home.

Meadows was rushed to an area hospital, where he later died.

Authorities in Jupiter were able to track down the car the couple fled in, however, the girlfriend was the only one in the vehicle:

“The girlfriend had just dropped him off at a Sunoco station off Indiantown Road, and that’s the last we’ve seen of our suspect,” Chief Deputy John Budensiek said.

Authorities are now asking for the public’s help in locating Diaz:

“We didn’t recover the knife on scene, so we believe he’s likely to still be in possession of that knife,” Budensiek said. “So, we would ask, if anyone knows where he is, let us handle it.”

If you have any information about his whereabouts, you are asked to contact your local law enforcement agency.
